Windows 10 is Microsoft’s latest operating system and was released on July 29, 2015. Starting on December 19, 2016, all newly-purchased Dell computers will be configured with Windows 10. If you require Windows 7 on a new device for compatibility purposes, our Service Desk technicians can downgrade your operating system. When you put in a request at myHelpdesk to connect your device, please note in the Requestor Comments section that you would like ITS to install Windows 7 on your device. A technician will follow up with your request.
Is WCM replacing Windows 7 with Windows 10 on all tagged computers?
No, not at this time. If you have Windows 7, or Windows 8/8.1, we still recommended that you hold off on upgrading. ITS is in the planning process to upgrade current tagged devices to Windows 10. We will notify you when a migration service is available.
At this time, ITS continues to support both Windows 7 and Windows 10.
WCM Enterprise Applications Compatibility
This table provides additional information regarding results of initial testing of WCM Enterprise wide desktop applications (you will need to be on the network to access the hyperlink). At this time vendors of a few key security related applications have not released officially supported versions making it even more important for tagged devices to not be upgraded.
