Effective July 5, ITS will be changing our password policy to match New York-Presbyterian’s password policy. This change will continue to ensure a uniform authentication process among WCM and NYP applications when you change your password.
What’s changing?
The next time you change your WCM CWID password, you will need to include at least one of each of the following four character types:
- Base 10 digits (0-9)
- English uppercase letters (A-Z),
- English lowercase letters (a-z)
- Non-alphanumeric (such as ` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = { } | \ : " ; ' < > ? , . / and space)
What other requirements does my password need to meet?
Passwords must:
- Be at least eight (8) characters;
- Not include person-related information (e.g., names, CWID, telephone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security Number, etc.);
- Not be vulnerable to a dictionary attack (see Recommendations for Creating Compliant Passwords – Section 7)
Example: Summer01!
