Network Policy

The network infrastructure at the Medical College and all network connections within it are managed exclusively by the Information Technologies & Services Department (ITS). The network may not be reconfigured in any way. Hubs, routers, or local area networks (LAN's) may not be installed by anyone outside ITS. Any computers which need to be connected to the network must be connected through ITS. A request form must be sent to us for any networked computers that need to be relocated to a new location or replaced with a new computer.

All devices connected to the WCMC network are assigned an ITS tag number (pictured at left). The ITS tag is six digit number starting with the number "1" preceded by the letters "ITS" or "OAC". This number can be found printed on a silver sticker usually affixed to either the top or front of your computer's case.

Weill Housing Network

Cornell University has policies and codes that govern the use of University computers and networks. The Weill Housing Network (WHN) is part of the Medical Center network. ITS will provide supported network connections and user support to all registered users of this service. Basic network services provided to Medical College faculty and staff will be provided to WHN with some additional restrictions.

Cornell University Policies

All Cornell University regulations about the responsible use of computers and networks are fully applicable to users at Weill Cornell Medical College.
