Subject Enrollment & Billing Compliance

Electronic health record and billing systems from the Weill Cornell Physician Organization and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital support subject enrollment and billing compliance activities.

To participate in clinical research, patients must enroll as subjects in studies, and clinicians and staff must oversee administrative workflows for research.  Using EHR and billing systems—including Epic, Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager (aka Eclipsys), and Eagle—clinicians and staff can:

  • Associate research subjects with research studies when scheduling appointments
  • Associate research subjects with research studies when closing encounters
  • Identify patients enrolled as subjects in research studies
  • Identify procedures for billing to research sponsors versus standard of care

Additionally, clinicians and staff can support clinical trial monitoring, configure subject recruitment alerts, query electronic health record data to discover cohorts of patients, and obtain detailed clinical data.
