Lenovo has issued a recall notice for ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen Laptops manufactured between December 2016 and October 2017. Lenovo has determined that a limited number of such laptops may have an unfastened screw that could damage the laptop’s battery causing overheating, potentially posing a fire hazard.
What do you need to do?
- Confirm if your ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Generation laptop (Machine Types: 20HQ, 20HR, 20K3, 20K4) is affected, visit the recall site https://support.lenovo.com/X1C_5GEN_RECALL and follow the instructions while using the potentially affected laptop.
- For Tagged Devices: ITS is working with Lenovo to coordinate remediation efforts and will be following up directly with affected device users.
- For Non-Tagged or Personal Devices: Please contact Lenovo directly
- Lenovo is offering free service inspections for all affected ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Generation laptops manufactured between the dates stated above. The affected systems can be identified by machine type, serial number and build date.
