As part of our efforts to continuously improve our services, ITS has implemented updates to our computer purchasing process. On June 10, purchases made through SciQuest in the Weill Business Gateway (WBG) will go directly to Dell in lieu of our previous third-party vendor, ePlus. The process remains the same for ordering hardware through WBG.
The Dell icon will soon be available on your dashboard.
Benefits
By dealing directly with Dell, departments can:
- Get lower prices for certain computers and accessories
- Customize standards on the Dell site, with no quote needed on custom specs
- See recommended accessories, like docking stations, monitors, and adapters
Additionally, our Dell hardware selection has not changed. Departments still have a wide variety of standard and customized options to select in SciQuest.
Shipping times through our new arrangement with Dell will remain consistent with our current process, with computers configured and shipping within eight days.*
New Hardware Quote Request Form
While the ordering process has not changed, the method for requesting quotes for options outside of Dell has. You can now submit quote requests directly in myHelpdesk. Simply submit the form and our Computer Sales Group will respond to your inquiry.
Questions?
If you have any questions about the computer ordering process, contact csg@med.cornell.edu. Questions about hardware not available in SciQuest can be submitted via the Quote Request Form available on the myHelpdesk site.
*Please note that there is a temporary Intel processor shortage affecting orders worldwide. While Intel is working on meeting demand, this issue may create longer processing times with certain Dell models. Contact csg@med.cornell.edu if you have questions about this.
