Update your Mac to fix "ZombieLoad" security flaw

Security experts recently discovered a flaw in Intel chips that could compromise the security of your Mac. This flaw, known as ZombieLoad, can allow an unauthorized user to access your device, see information like websites you are visiting in real-time, and access your passwords.

Apple has released updates for macOS Mojave (10.14.x)macOS High Sierra (10.13.x), and macOS Sierra (10.12.x).

You can find your macOS version by going to the Apple menu icon and choosing About This Mac.

What do you need to do?

Please update your device as soon as possible. The update will take about 15-30 minutes, depending on your Mac. All updates will require a restart. Please save all your work before applying the updates.

To start the upgrade: 

macOS Mojave (10.14.x)

  • Click the Apple menu icon apple icon  at the top-left side of your screen, then select System Preferences, followed by Software Update. Apply all suggested updates. (If you recently upgraded to 10.14.5, the flaw has already been patched.)

macOS High Sierra (10.13.x) and macOS Sierra (10.12.x)

  • Click the Apple menu icon apple icon at the top-left side of your screen, then select App Store, followed by Updates. Apply all suggested updates.
