WCM Microsoft OneDrive Beta Launch

ITS is pleased to announce the beta launch of a new cloud storage tool, Microsoft OneDrive. OneDrive lets you store, share, and collaborate on files in the cloud, saving your valuable hard drive space. It also integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Office.

OneDrive is the preferred method for storing WCM high-risk data, like PHI and PII. In this beta launch it can be used to share files with Weill Cornell Medicine students, staff, and faculty. We are working rapidly to evolve the service, and enable additional features such as external sharing with affiliates like NYP.

Can I use OneDrive to store and share HIPAA or PHI-related content?

OneDrive is the preferred method for storing WCM  high-risk data (i.e. PHI, PII) in the cloud.

Currently, you can use OneDrive to share high-risk data only with Weill Cornell Medicine faculty, staff, and students. We are working rapidly to enable external data sharing and collaboration with affiliate institutions, including NYP.

When do I use OneDrive instead of a different storage solution?

There are several storage options available at WCM. Take a look at this End-User Storage Comparison for guidance on the features of OneDrive as compared to Box, SharePoint, and ITS File Share.
