Nov. 12: Learn Vertex AI/LLM for Clinical Research

Tech Tuesday

Vertex AI/LLM for Clinical Research

Tuesday, Nov. 12

12 noon – 12:45 p.m.

Join our Research Informatics team to learn how Vertex artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLM) are being used for research at WCM. In this session, we’ll discuss:

  • How researchers at WCM are using Google’s AI technology to unlock insights from unstructured data in the electronic health records (EHR)
  • Applying LLMs to free text data, including techniques for iteratively applying prompts across large data sets
  • Retrieval-augmented generation: how to “seed” language models with bodies of reference documents and ask questions about them
  • Security and safety: how to protect sensitive patient data and ensure compliance with WCM and University policies

Presenter: Evan Sholle, ITS Research Informatics
