What's in Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365, the newest version of Office, offers a collection of enhancements to increase your productivity. It also receives new features and updates from Microsoft more frequently. 

Here are some of our favorite new features:

• Use the @mentions feature in Outlook to get a co-worker’s attention. If you'd like to get someone's attention in an email message or a meeting invite, you can type the @ symbol, followed by their name, in the body of the email message or a meeting invite. If you do this, not only will their name be highlighted in the message body or invite details, but Outlook will automatically add them to the To line of the email or meeting invite, and they'll see the @ symbol next to the message in their Inbox. More on how to use @mentions in Microsoft 365.

• Use the co-authoring feeature to save your documents on OneDrive and work on them with others. Co-authoring works from within Word, Excel, or PowerPoint by clicking the Share tab, or sending a link with OneDrive. You can collaborate in real-time and make simultaneous edits - no one gets locked out. Changes are saved automatically, and with version history you can track all changes and revert with ease. • Share your files easily with integrated OneDrive. OneDrive lets you share files easily with a link, even if they're large. More on how to share files and folders with OneDrive in Microsoft 365. 

• Take your Microsoft 365 apps and files anywhere. Microsoft 365 can be activated on up to 5 computers and 5 devices using your WCM account. 

• Save files as you type with the OneDrive Auto-Save feature. Just toggle the Auto-Save switch to On, and OneDrive will save your files automatically.

• Use Office for the web in 365 to access your Microsoft 365 applications and files from any web browser. Just go to o365.weill.cornell.edu and log in with your WCM CWID and password to access your WCM email account, and other Office files that you have saved in OneDrive. • Save your Outlook signature and other settings in the cloud. This lets you use your Outlook settings on any device you use to sign into Office.

• Stay connected wherever you are:  Work efficiently with email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and more—together in one place. Office integration lets you share attachments right from OneDrive, and access contacts. 
• Email, calendar, and contacts all in one place: Your emails are more distinctive when you create a custom format, include images, and use your own domain name. You can do all three with Microsoft 365. You can also send messages as big as 150 MB, and with 100 GB of storage, keep all the email you want, even with custom formats and images.
• Get worry free email: Microsoft 365 gives you a simplified admin center that lets you set up new user emails, restore deleted accounts, create custom scripts, and more from anywhere. You also get industry-leading anti-malware protection and anti-spam filtering to guard against ever-present email threats.

View, edit, or create spreadsheets from anywhere, collaborate on workbooks in real time, and get a better picture of your data with Microsoft Excel.

• Enhanced by intelligence for experts and novices: Excel learns your patterns, organizing your data to save you time. Easily create spreadsheets from templates or on your own and use modern formulas to perform calculations.
• Get a better picture of your data: New charts and graphs help you present your data in compelling ways, with formatting, sparklines, and tables to better understand your data. Easily create forecasts to predict trends with just a click.

Bring out your best writing, collaborate with anyone, anywhere, and work the way you want with Microsoft Word.

• Transform docuements to web pages: Need to publish a newsletter or document for others to see? Easily transform your Word document into a webpage.
• Get real time translation with just a click: Collaborate with others across the globe. Translate documents in your non-native language with just a click.
• Never leave your document while researching: Finding great sources just got simpler. Read articles in the task pane to stay focused on your writing.

Take your presentations to the next level, co-author presentations wherever you are, and present with confidence with Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Designing slides has never been easier: Create well-designed, impactful slides with the help of Designer and Ideas in PowerPoint.
• 3D isn't just for movies: Now you can easily insert 3D objects and embedded animations directly into PowerPoint decks from your own files or a library of content.

Do more wherever you are with secure access, sharing, and file storage—at work, at home, or on the go.

• Access anywhere: Easily store, access, and discover your individual and shared work files in Microsoft 365, including Microsoft Teams, from all your devices. Your offline edits will automatically sync next time you connect.
• Seamless collaboration: Work faster and smarter with anyone inside or outside your organization. Securely share files and work together in real time using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint across web, mobile, and desktop.
• Untethered mobility: Create, view, edit, and share files on the go with the OneDrive mobile app. Easily capture whiteboards and scan work receipts, business cards, and other paper documents for safekeeping.
• Controls for security: Back up and protect your files with OneDrive. You can easily recover files from accidental deletes or malicious attacks and administrators can manage security policies to help keep your information safe.

Invite everyone you work with to chat, meet, call, and collaborate all in one place, no matter where you are.

• Chat from anywhere: Share your opinion, and your personality. Send gifs, stickers, and emojis in a group chat or in one-to-one messages.
• Meet from anywhere: Host online meetings—1:1, teams, live events with consistent experiences across platforms.
• Call from anywhere: Let people join meetings on the go with a global dial-in number or contact each other directly. All they need is a mobile device and Teams.
• Collaborate on shared projects: Work together on the same document in real time. Avoid the confusion of multiple versions with instant, automatic sync and version history tracking.
• Share all types of files: Share files within channels, meetings, and chats with a link or by uploading directly into Teams. Uploaded files are automatically added to a document library for seamless, secure access across apps and devices.
