RShiny (Posit Connect)

Also known as
Also known as:
  • RShiny
  • RStudio Team
  • Posit

RShiny is a software package for R (and Python) that allows users to easily develop interactive web apps and dashboards for their data projects. It is useful for visualizing data dynamically and creating tools for other researchers.

Posit Connect is a publishing platform that enables researchers in the WCM community to share their R and Python-based web pages. It allows you to deploy Shiny applications, R Markdown documents, and other R-based and Python-based assets to create interactive reports, dashboards, and data-driven applications.

While running RStudio on your own computer is always an option, some projects or applications require collaborative work, high-power computing resources, or the ability to publish a dashboard or web application that others can view. ITS can support these uses through RStudio Team, a centrally-hosted service that allows users to work together in a shared analytic environment. Subject to data governance restrictions, WCM users can write R or Python code, share it with others in their lab or user group, and ultimately, through RStudio Connect, publish Shiny applications that other users can view.

To run RStudio on your own computer, please visit the Scientific Software Hub. To learn more about the other RStudio resources, such as publishing a Shiny app, please contact us via the Research Computing/Storage Request Form.

If you have questions about Posit Connect, please contact arch-support@med.cornell.edu.
