How to manage your junk email in Outlook

ITS recently made some updates to migrate our spam management service. As a reminder, here’s what you can do to ensure you’re getting the emails you desire and block unsolicited emails.

Check your Junk folder

With WCM transitioning email filters from Proofpoint to Microsoft Outlook as of Aug. 26, messages identified by Outlook as unsolicited redirect to Outlook’s Junk folder. We recommend periodically checking this folder to make sure no important emails are being filtered in there.

If you find a message in your Junk folder that should go to your inbox, you can select Mark as Not Junk at the top of the email:

Likewise, any unsolicited emails that land in your inbox can be classified as Junk mail by clicking the Report button at the top of your email and selecting Report Junk:

Editing safe and blocked senders

You can also edit your safe and blocked senders list in Outlook if you feel you’re experiencing an uptick in unsolicited emails. This is done by adding them as safe or blocked senders to permanently filter certain email addresses and domains.

Please visit the ITS website or contact the Service Desk at the information listed below if you have any questions about managing spam in Outlook,
