Starting May 28, participants in Microsoft Teams online meetings will begin to see notifications requesting consent when someone attempts to record or transcribe a session. Please note, this applies if you are the WCM host of a Teams-based meeting, and will allow participants to explicitly agree or disagree to be recorded in Teams. Zoom meetings are not impacted by this change.
The next time you’re in a Teams meeting and someone selects the “Start Recording” button, you’ll see the following notification on your screen:

If you do not consent to being recorded, you will remain in the meeting and can listen and view what’s being shared, but you will be unable to unmute your microphone, or share screen or video. Should you attempt to unmute or share your screen, Microsoft Teams will display the consent notification again, allowing you to change your answer, if applicable.
For online meetings, please do not share recordings that contain information that could be classified as high-risk data (e.g., PHI). You can read more about our Responsible Use Guidelines for Zoom & Teams Meetings.
