Coming soon: Your O365 account to sync with NYP & CUIMC

Weill Cornell Medicine is partnering with NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP) and Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) to seamlessly connect our respective Microsoft Office 365 services in an initiative called Multi-Tenant Organization (MTO). Between early May and late July, you will notice changes in your O365 account that will make it easier to collaborate with our tripartite colleagues.    

What will MTO do? 

• MTO will create a single, unified Global Address List, making it easier for tripartite employees to find and connect with one another. 

• It enables seamless Microsoft Teams communication and file sharing without workarounds when collaborating with tripartite colleagues. 

• With MTO, we simplify collaboration, strengthen governance, and provide a more consistent and secure experience.  

Changes you’ll see in the next few months 

From May to July, users from all three institutions will be synchronized into MTO in large batches. While there is no set date when your O365 account will be synched in MTO, you can expect the following improvements as features are introduced over the next couple of months: 

• A seamless experience across all three institutions—users will no longer appear as “external.” 

• Ability to find tripartite colleagues easier in apps like Outlook and Teams. 

• Improved Teams chat, meetings, and presence across organizations. 

• Faster and more reliable calendar free/busy visibility in Outlook. 

• Streamlined file sharing through SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. 

• Reduced need to switch tenants or manage guest accounts. 

• More consistent access to Teams shared channels. 

• Fewer login prompts across Microsoft 365 applications. 

Next steps

No action is required on your end. By the end of July, you will notice improved synchronization in your O365 account if you work frequently with colleagues at NYP and CUIMC.
