Security Alert: New spam message being sent to WCMC users

ITS has blocked a malicious link in a spam message that users at Weill Cornell may have received in their inboxes. Some users have received the following message; links have been removed and the text appears as it was originally written so that users can more easily identify the malicious email and delete it.

To: Angela Gabbidon
Subject: Windows Secure

Your mailbox need to be secured against spam,Secure your mailbox with the new spam protector.click on IT WEBSITE [malicious link removed] and fill in the necessary mailbox requirement to cleanup your mailbox Quota.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your mailbox should be checked at least twice everyday for new updates

Clicking on the links provided will lead you to a malicious website. While our Security Team has blocked the site from being accessed on campus, please be cautious when checking your email outside of the WCMC network.

What do you need to do?


  • Do not click the link provided in the email if you received one of these messages. Please delete the email.
  • If you have already clicked the link and provided personal information, contact ITS immediately at 212-746-4878. We will work with you to ensure your account and computer were not compromised and take any necessary action to protect your information. You should also change your password at mypassword.med.cornell.edu (NOTE: ITS will never ask for your password or information to validate your account).
