Introducing Data Migration service

ITS is pleased to introduce our new Data Migration service available to departments seeking assistance to transfer, archive, or retrieve data on many of our supported platforms. This is ideal for departments that store large amounts of data and may not have the time or technical expertise to transfer data quickly and securely to a more cost-effective platform. 

At this time, ITS can help departments migrate data with these use cases: 

• File Sharing to Managed Hosting
• File Sharing to Scientific Computing Unit (SCU) High Performance Parallel Storage
• File Sharing to Microsoft SharePoint 
• File Sharing to OneDrive Cloud Storage 
• Data migration to and from AWS S3 Cloud Object Storage

How does the data migration process work?

Once you make a request for data migration services, ITS will consult with your department to plan the most suitable strategy in transferring your data and ensuring the migration meets compliance standards. 

ITS staff will also help: 

• Ensure moderate and high-risk data (e.g., PHI) are moved securely
• Optimize storage configurations to reduce costs
• Monitor the entire migration process from start to end
• Provide documentation on how to access data in its new location
