How to sign up for Microsoft Authenticator multi-factor authentication for alumni email

In order to access your alumni account, you will need to first create a multi-factor authentication account, and then connect this account to the application you use to access your alumni email (e.g., Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.). 

1. Sign into your Alumni account using a supported web browser.

2. You will receive a prompt for more information, click on Next.

3. Select from the drop-down menu how Microsoft should contact you for verification.

a. Select Mobile App.

b. Receive notifications for verification.

4. A pop-up window will appear with instructions to download Microsoft Authenticator app from the App store (iOS/Android/Windows).

a. Once you download the Microsoft authenticator app:

i. Click on the + sign at the top right of the app.
ii. Select Work or School account.
iii. Select Scan QR Code.

5. Use the app scan the QR Code on the screen. If you cannot scan the QR code, you can use the link on the screen and input the code shown on the screen.

6. Click on Next once you have scanned the QR Code and verified the identity on Microsoft Authenticator App.

7. Once verified, you will see your alumni email account in the Authenticator app.

 8. You will be asked to provide your phone number as a second verification in case you lose access to the mobile app.
