It’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month – your favorite time of year!

We’re baaaaaack! It’s October, which means it’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. In ITS, we know that IT security isn’t at the forefront of everyone’s minds when they log into their computer. To be fair, we put a lot of security protocols in place to protect your data, but remaining vigilant about cybersecurity is key!

However, it’s a new year, and we all know that 2020 has thrown us for a loop for – ahem – many reasons (*gestures broadly at everything*). There are all types of security issues that you may not even be aware of, and we’re here to help you one email (and meme) at a time.

Throughout October, we’ll be sending you tips on protecting your information and avoiding malicious attempts to extract your personal data.

Pop quiz, hot shot!

The Pew Research Center released its findings from an online survey it posted on cybersecurity knowledge. What Pew’s research shows is concerning: only one percent of respondents got all of the questions right, and less than half of the total pool of 1,055 respondents were able to answer a majority of the questions correctly. Many respondents also preferred selecting “not sure” in lieu of guessing an answer.

We have the same 10-question quiz from the Pew Research Center to test your knowledge. At the end of the quiz, we’ll provide the correct answers and link you to resources to better secure your accounts and identity.

Take the quiz! (It only takes a few minutes.)
