ITS has completed testing on Apples new operating system OS X 10.11, also known as El Capitan.
IMPORTANT: We recommend that Schrodinger suite users do not upgrade at this time. The vendor is working on a new release that is expected on or about mid-November 2015.
Although we have verified that all ITS services are compatible with El Capitan, there still could be potential issues with non-WCM third-party software.
If you currently use non-WCM software on your work computer, please confirm with the software vendor that it is compatible with El Capitan. The website Roaring Apps is also a good source to determine whether software applications are compatible with various operating systems.
What to do before you upgrade to El Capitan
Please make sure you do the following prior to upgrading your device:
Apple introduced Safari 9 with the release of El Capitan but also made it available for Mavericks (OS X 10.9) & Yosemite (OS X 10.10).
IMPORTANT: The initial release of Safari 9 had issues accessing myapps.weill.cornell.edu. This has been addressed in the latest release (v9.0.1). If you are using Safari 9 you can update to the latest version by using the Mac App Store.
Not sure which version you’re using?
Launch Safari, and under the Safari menu in the upper left corner select “About Safari.”
