Avoiding Internet fraud: Spear-Phishing

ITS has been made aware of a "spear-phishing" attempt at WCMC. "Spear-Phishing" is the act of sending a highly targeted email or message to an individual in an attempt to gather information, such as account passwords and financial information. This information may then be used to perpetrate fraud or other illegal activity.

Please be aware that these messages can come from any account, including compromised med.cornell.edu email addresses. If you are uncertain or uncomfortable with an email you receive, please contact the ITS Service Desk immediately for assistance.

Make sure you read our Tips to Avoid Internet Fraud to keep your identity and data safe!
