It is our pleasure to announce the appointment of Krishna Sankhavaram as the new ITS Director of Research Administrative Computing. Krishna comes to Weill Cornell from MD Anderson where he was the Director of Research Information Systems and Technology Development since 2005. While there, he was responsible for a full suite of administrative systems, as well as the development of a high performance computing facility supporting computationally intensive research. At MD Anderson, Krishna was known to be an outstanding collaborator with great skill at building bridges between faculty and staff. He is an expert in both systems operations and modern software development methodologies. He holds two master's degrees: one in Computer Engineering and one in Elementary Particle Physics.
In his new role, he will lead the transformation of the recently consolidated research administrative systems group to implement the next generation of systems with vastly improved integration, usability, and functionality. He will also direct the new Architecture for Research Computing in Health (ARCH) program, which is creating research databases for scientists at WCMC in collaboration with NYP, the JCTO, and the CTSC. Krishna will no doubt also be critical in helping ITS develop our high performance computing capabilities in close collaboration with Dave Lifka, the Director of the Center for Advanced Computing, and newly appointed Associate CIO of CIT in Ithaca.
Krishna's office and team will be located in ITS, but he will dual report to both of us in our respective roles as CIO and Senior Associate Dean of Research. Please join us in welcoming him to the Weill Cornell community.
