As part of the Microsoft April security patch, the Microsoft Edge “legacy” browser will be upgraded to a Chromium-based Edge browser that is supported by Microsoft and will receive future security fixes. The upgrade will happen as part of the monthly patch on the evening of Thursday, April 22 with no action required by end users.
The new Microsoft Edge is compatible with all supported versions of Windows. It features excellent speed, performance, best in class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features.
What do you need to do?
This change should be seamless, and everything you currently have stored on Edge should transfer over to the new Chromium-based Edge browser. However, you may want to back up bookmarks just in case.
