It seems as though there is always new technology to master and essential skills to hone, but the trick is determining how you prefer to learn, and then carving out the time to do it. To accommodate the various ways WCM students, staff, and faculty prefer to learn new subjects, as well as cater to busy schedules, ITS offers several useful options for tech training.
In-person
Sometimes, good old face-to-face instruction is best. You can watch an ITS Learning Specialist demo a tool, and ask questions in real-time. Our ITS Training team recently launched a program called Traveling Training, where we schedule a personalized training session with you and your staff in the comfort of your own conference room. Web-based
For those that enjoy self-paced online courses, these sites are a great way to sneak some learning into your daily schedule, and both are complimentary to WCM students, faculty, and staff.
Lynda.com
Sponsored by the Samuel J. Wood Library, lynda.com is an online learning repository available to all WCM faculty, staff, and students with unlimited access to a vast library of high-quality video tutorials on various IT topics. Popular courses included those in Excel, Office 365, HTML, Adobe, and more for all skill levels.
Courses are all self-paced and available on almost any device, including iOS and Android devices. Simply search for a topic you are interested in learning about and select an appropriate course. Courses are broken down into smaller modules to help you easily navigate your way through the content, and often offer free exercise files so you can practice.
lynda.com's course catalog is always growing, so check back often to see what’s new. Lynda.com also offers LinkedIn integration – so when you finish a course you can proudly publish your completion certificate to your professional profile.

Skillsoft
Skillsoft is the latest learning platform to become available to WCM users! It is an online learning portal available to all WCM faculty, staff, and students with unlimited access to a vast library of high-quality tutorials and books on various topics, such as: Technology, Business, Well-Being, and Certifications. Skillsoft also provides training guides and job aids that you can save for future use.
Many Skillsoft video courses are broken down into micro-modules with follow-up quizzes, so you can ensure you’re soaking up the information. Skillsoft tracks your progress so you can take a break and pick up where you left off.
Skillsoft also offers a feature called Books 24X7 which lets you read an entire book from your desktop or mobile device about the topic you’d like to know more about.
