Email authentication change 10/21 at 7pm

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through this change! Our ITS Support Desk is prioritizing tickets related to email authentication, and will be available 24/7 throughout the weekend to help you out. If you have opened an incident and are waiting on a response, a support technician will be in touch with you soon. In the meantime, remember that Outlook on the Web (webmail) will continue to work on all devices: o365.weill.cornell.edu.

In light of the increased digital security attacks worldwide, WCM is fully transitioning to using Duo two-factor authentication when accessing Office 365 email, calendars, and contacts via Outlook, Apple Mail, and Outlook on the web (o365.weill.cornell.edu) on your laptop, desktop, or mobile device.

On Thursday, October 21st at 7pm, ITS will perform a migration of our email authentication method from legacy authentication to modern authentication, which supports Duo. This may cause email clients other than Outlook or Apple Mail to stop working.

• After the migration is complete, you may be prompted to enter your password when you try to launch your Outlook or Apple Mail client on your laptop, desktop, or mobile device.
• As a reminder, if you are accessing email outside the WCM network, you will be required to use Duo two-factor authentication.
• Outlook on the web (o365.weill.cornell.edu) will work on all devices.

If you have issues after the migration

• If you encounter any issues after the migration, such as a notification indicating that ITS has blocked your exchange account, Outlook on the web (o365.weill.cornell.edu) will still work on all devices. 
• Additional ITS Support will be available 24/7 throughout the weekend.
• While not expected, you may have to delete and re-add your email account on your computer or mobile device using the procedures in the knowledge articles below.
