Service Alert : Global outage causing blue screen on PCs and Servers.

Incident

Description

There is a critical outage affecting CrowdStrike, one of our key anti-malware vendors across the university. Many computers cannot boot. Some servers are affected, as well as downstream equipment monitoring systems. The CIT, ITS, and other teams have been tracking the issue overnight and will be posting advice as they receive it.

Update (7/25 at 3:55pm)

We have restored access to the vast majority of Windows computers that were impacted as a result of the global CrowdStrike outage. If you are still experiencing this issue, please contact the ITS Service Desk for assistance and support in resolving this issue.

Update (7/22 at 7:45am)

We are continuing to work through addressing all systems impacted from the global CrowdStrike outage.  To prepare for Monday morning, we will be dispatching technicians throughout the clinical, research, and campus spaces starting with our highest impact and patient-facing areas.  Additionally, our Service Desk will be staffed with additional volunteers to help manage chats, answer calls, and address open tickets.  We appreciate your patience while we continue to work through this event.

Update (7/20 at 7:00am)

We've made significant progress throughout the day yesterday restoring access to Windows computers that were impacted as a result of the global CrowdStrike outage. However, a substantial number of Windows computers within our organization are still impacted and need to be updated in order to restore access more broadly. The team continues to remediate the rest of the affected machines through the weekend and into next week.

As a reminder, the ITS Service Desk is available 24/7 (excluding holidays) via phone at (212) 746-4878. Given the magnitude of this global outage, you may experience longer than usual wait times when contacting the ITS Service Desk. If you are unable to remain on the line when calling, please open an Incident within myHelpdesk and be sure to include your ITS tag number, location, and contact information. Please note, we are working through the ticket backlog in the order in which tickets were received.
