Tonight: Urgent security patch to address Windows vulnerabilities

Starting tonight, May 22 after 10 p.m., ITS will be pushing a security patch for all Windows devices to address two urgent vulnerabilities identified by Microsoft. If not addressed, attackers can remotely access your device without authorization. 

How will this affect you?

This security update applies to all Windows devices. Your Windows device will restart within four hours after the security patch is applied.

What do you need to do? 

• If you have a Windows device, please leave it on this evening to receive the security update. Please save all your work and close all applications.

• Your device does not need to be on the WCMC network to receive the security update.

• We recommend turning off all instruments connected to your Windows device. 

• If you don’t leave your computer on this evening, the security update will be applied to your computer the next time you log into your device.
