New Outlook feature prevents email pileup

ITS is helping you keep your inbox a whole lot neater! On Wednesday evening, we will implement an automated cleanup feature for all WCM Outlook accounts. Emails in your Deleted Items folder will be automatically cleaned up to keep only the most recent 90 days’ worth of messaging. Any deleted emails older than 90 days will now be permanently removed from your Deleted Items folder.

Your main inbox and other folders you may have created in Outlook will be unaffected by this change.

How does this help you?

Previously, there was no limit to the number of emails that could be discarded in your Deleted Items folder, which typically led to unmanageable mailboxes with thousands of useless messages. Having a large number of emails that you don’t need sitting in your Deleted Items folder takes up valuable space in your account and in our email system. Being able to free up this space leads to better performance in Outlook.

The process of removing older deleted items may take some time to run in the background of your application. However, you can continue work as normal.
