Apple recently released iOS security patch 16.6.1 to address a vulnerability that can exploit iPhones and other Apple devices and install malware without interaction from users. ITS recommends updating your affected Apple devices immediately.
If you have an affected Apple device, install 16.6.1 using these instructions:

iPad Pro (all models)
iPad Air 3rd generation and later
iPad 5th generation and later
