Update to iOS 15 by Oct. 21

The newest iOS has just been released, iOS 15. According to our WCM mobile device policy, tagged devices used to access WCM resources must run one of the three most recent generations of an operating system, which means iOS 15, 14, or 13 as of this new release.

(For more information see section 3.04 Device Operating System in Devices: Mobile Policy)

In order to stay compliant with our security policies, please update your smartphone or tablet in 30 days, or by October 21, 2021.

Note: New security feature in iOS 15 will require Duo prompts while on campus

new security feature has been added to iOS 15 as a part of Apple’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention software that helps protect Safari users from unwanted tracking. When enabled, the new feature hides a user’s IP address from trackers so they can’t utilize the IP address as unique identifier to connect user’s activity across websites and build a profile of them.

If you choose to enable this feature, please be aware that you will receive Duo prompts for those sites that require Duo even if you are onsite or connected to VPN.  This is because the feature essentially hides the IP address from the website that Safari is browsing, so if you login to a WCM site that requires Duo when you are offsite, you will be prompted even though you are technically on site.
