On July 11, 2022, two updated university-wide policies came into effect for all WCM faculty, staff, and students. This follows the release of the policies by Cornell-Ithaca in February 2022.
Cornell University/WCM Policies
- Policy 4.21: Research Data Retention (Cornell University Policy 4.21). Defines the shared responsibilities of the University and researchers in collecting, retaining, securing, accessing, publishing, and sharing research data.
- Policy 4.22 Export and Import Control Compliance (Cornell University Policy 4.22) Sets forth the primary responsibilities related to trade compliance including international shipments, access to controlled technologies, and dealings with sanctioned entities and locations.
WCM Data Retention & Export Control Attestation
As of July 11, 2022, the WCM Data Retention & Export Control Attestation will be available in the Learning module of WBG (LMS). The Attestation records your understanding of and agreement with the research data policies.
How to access the WCM Data Retention & Export Control Attestation:
- Navigate to the Weill Business Gateway (wbg.weill.cornell.edu) and click the Learning tile. Or use the link: http://sf-lms.weill.cornell.edu/
- The Attestation has been assigned to you. On the My Learning homepage, there is a window labeled My Learning Assignments. You’ll see WCM Data Retention & Export Control Attestation listed there. Click Start Course.

WCM Institutional Data Repository for Research (WIDRR)
As of July 11, 2022, WCM Institutional Data Repository for Research (WIDRR), a new data retention tool, is available to help investigators archive data. For more information, please visit the Library’s Research Data Management, Retention, and Sharing page.

This allows the University to respond to any questions about accuracy, authenticity, primacy, and compliance with laws and regulations governing the research.
