Please note that, while no timeline has been set, ITS plans to transition to Microsoft OneDrive as our official cloud storage solution and will retire Box. We recommend using OneDrive for your storage needs, particularly if you intend to store data which contains PHI/PII.
OneDrive cloud storage is offered as part of WCM’s O365 suite. It allows you to store, share, and collaborate on files in the cloud. The OneDrive sync client can be installed on your laptop, desktop, phone and/or tablet to let you access files from any device. (Note: Windows PCs must be ITS-tagged in order to access OneDrive.) OneDrive can be accessed via any web browser by going to portal.office.com with your CWID and password, then clicking the OneDrive tile. If you’re logging in from off campus, you may need to use Duo MFA. OneDrive offers mobile applications and sync clients; however, offline file synchronization is only permitted on encrypted devices which are tagged and managed by ITS.
OneDrive is the preferred method for storing WCM high-risk data, like PHI and PII. OneDrive can be used to share files with Weill Cornell Medicine faculty, staff, and students. WCM users are also able to share files with peers at our major affiliate institutions, including NYP, MSKCC, Rockefeller University, Cornell University, and HSS (view our full list of affiliates). For sharing with institutions not part of this list, please open a ticket at our myHelpdesk site.
