Microsoft is ending support for the Windows 10 operating system (OS) on October 14, 2025, at which point they will no longer provide security fixes, technical assistance, or software updates. ITS must ensure that all Windows computers run on a supported version of Windows 11 OS (version 23H2) so that they stay current with Microsoft support and security, and don’t pose a security risk to the WCM network.

Effective immediately, Dell is no longer the ITS preferred vendor for computer equipment purchases. While you can still purchase Dell accessories, our new preferred vendor for desktop and laptop purchases is Lenovo. 

Please note that you can still order laptops through our Evergreen program. Additionally, a list of all of our standard devices is available on the ITS website for your reference. 

February 7, 2025

ITS will be undergoing a transition in leadership with the departure of Vipin Kamath as Chief Information Officer. After 19 years at Weill Cornell Medicine, Vipin has decided to take the reins from the retiring CIO at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. His last day at WCM will be February 28.

Apple recently released an update for macOS Sequoia 15.3, and ITS is receiving reports that the update does not fully install if a user has any peripheral devices connected to their Mac when they attempt the update. (e.g. keyboard, mouse, microphone, webcam, monitor, external drive etc.)  

What do you need to do? 

  1. Before you begin the macOS Sequoia 15.3 update, unplug all peripherals.
  2. Install the update.
  3. Log in.
  4. Reconnect your perpherials.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., ITS will be implementing changes to the annual High-Risk Data Attestation that is required to be completed by WCM faculty, staff, and students. All WCM employees must complete the attestation annually (upon their anniversary date) at attest.weill.cornell.edu.
