Apple will soon be releasing a new version of their Mac OS X operating system called "Lion". At this time, we are recommending users do not upgrade to Lion until ITS is able to fully test compatibility and confirm vendor support with PGP and other ITS supported applications.

Please note that when compatibility and support are confirmed, the Mac App store will not allow a PGP encrypted machine to upgrade to Lion.

Apple made the Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7 available as of 3/21/2011. PGP has not yet certified their laptop encryption software as being compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.7. If you have a Mac PGP-encrypted laptop and are prompted to upgrade your system to 10.6.7 or any combinations of older version such as 10.6.5 or 10.6.6, please do not perform the upgrade at this time as it may cause your Mac to be unbootable. ITS will notify you as soon as we receive notification from PGP that they have certified Mac OS X 10.6.7 and confirmed that it is safe to upgrade.

Mac OS X 10.6.5 and 10.6.6 are not compatible with the PGP Whole Disk Encryption.

If you are a WCMC user with a PGP-enabled Mac computer, do not upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.5 or 10.6.6. Doing so will cause your Mac to be unbootable, requiring a restore using a Time Machine backup.

On April 15th Microsoft released Office 2010. ITS is currently in the process of compatibility testing for Office 2010. ITS is diligently working on completing the application certification process to fully support Office 2010. In addition, we are also working on the Microsoft licensing package for WCMC. At this time, we strongly discourage departments from purchasing individual Office 2010 licenses.
