In a recent update, Visio is now included in your Microsoft Office 365 account and Teams! With Visio for the Web, you can create professional diagrams — like flow charts, timelines, and more — at no additional charge.

Should I use the O365 or desktop version of Microsoft Visio?

Use Visio for O365 if you:

  • Want to create a simple diagram (Mind Mapping, Process Flow, Organization Chart)
  • Want to easily save and share my diagrams with my team(s)
  • Don’t need the various specific icon set (Basic Shape Objects are good enough)

Request/keep the paid desktop version of Visio if you:

  • Need the full library of objects, icons, and graphics.
  • Need to work offline.
  • Need to connect Visio to a data source (Excel, SharePoint Lists, SQL)

For a complete comparison, please see KB0017334.

For a detailed description on how to access Visio for Teams, please see KB0017339.

ITS is asking the WCM community to be cautious of IT support-related scams. The scam typically begins as a pop-up window on your computer, or an email, asking you to contact support because something is wrong with your computer. The “support agent” will then have you download a screensharing application that is actually malware, or ask for your credentials and sensitive data.

Personalizing email messages can be a great way to grab a recipient's attention and add information that is specific to them. But does that mean you need to spend time writing tons of individual messages if you're sending a mass email? Not with Microsoft Word's Mail Merge feature! Mail Merge allows you to personalize emails quickly by inserting the information you need into a form message. Both the Windows and Mac desktop versions of Word - although slightly different in appearance - offer the same easy steps.

Can REDCap connect to other sources of record?

Offered as a premium service, SUPER REDCap enables pre-population of case report forms with data from electronic health record (EHR) and research systems. SUPER REDCap provides an adjudication process whereby users can approve all incoming data from a source system, such as Epic. For further information, please contact redcap@med.cornell.edu.

What approvals are required for my REDCap research projects?

If the project utilizing REDCap involves human subjects research, it must have IRB approval before moving to production status and collecting data. If the project utilizing REDCap involves animals, it must have IACUC approval before moving to production status and collecting data.

Are REDCap survey responses collected anonymously?

While REDCap is technically capable of anonymous data collection, the accurate configuration of the REDCap project will depend on your requirements and how the project was started. Please contact redcap@med.cornell.edu for a consultation about collecting anonymous responses.

How do I reset my password in REDCap?

A. For non-WCM/NYP users: On the login screen, select ‘Forgot your password?’ This will prompt you to the REDCap Password Recovery page. If it is an authentic REDCap account, an email containing a link for resetting your password will be sent to the primary email address associated with your REDCap account, after which you will then be able to log in to your account.

B. For WCM/NYP users: Your login is authenticated using your CWID. If you need to reset your password, you will need to change your CWID password through your institution’s identity management system.
